Design Philosophies as a Global Shirts Manufacturer: Understanding Design for a Global Audience

Updated: Apr 30, 2023

Being the go-to source of multiple high-profile global brands is not easy, and it is something we excel at, and we are only able to do that by keeping up with global trends while ensuring we stay true to what makes us unique.

As Jacky Angel, we take pride in our decades worth of experience and know-how, but we also know that is not enough to keep up with today’s ever-shifting trends as more and more end customers started to develop a rather sophisticated taste when it comes to shirts, especially if they are made from quality materials and are aimed for high-end clientele. Thus, in order to perform well in these demanding markets, we have adopted a global mindset that allows us to pinpoint possible changes and developments - and this is a challenge we accept and cherish.

Thus, this week, we wanted to delve more into our design philosophy when it comes to designing and communicating globally accepted designs and how we manage to navigate these multi waters without any issues.

Without further ado, here are some of the key tricks we have learned to ensure we can stay up to date when it comes to global trends and present our clients with designs they will be sure to cherish.

4 Tricks We Use to Design Shirts for a Global Audience

There are a lot of avenues to cover when one is designing clothing for a global audience. Here are some of the key concepts we always consider, and act as a foundation to our approach to being a global business partner.

  1. Understand Cultural Differences: We know a design that works in one country might not work in another - for example, a shirt design that uses a particular color or symbol may have a positive meaning in one country but might be offensive in another - rendering the entire order obsolete. That is why we implemented measures to always research and understand the cultural differences between different regions before creating designs for our clients.

  2. Keep it Simple: We might come from different backgrounds - but deep down, we are all the same, and this is true for what we tend to like as well. Simple designs are usually more universally appealing than complex ones. That is why, unless asked, we use simple shapes, colors, and typography that convey a message or a feeling without relying on language and always take regional size and shape differences into consideration. Additionally, we avoid using text in languages other than English or the most widely spoken languages, as this can limit the audience that can understand it.

  3. Consider Global Trends: We are living in a truly global era, where something that is gaining positive traction in one continent might enjoy a very similar success in others. Indeed, even though trends that are popular in one region might not be popular in another, there are some trends that have a universal appeal, such as nature-inspired designs, geometric patterns, and minimalist designs. To capture the “mojo” and always be on top of modern developments, we always pay attention to the latest fashion trends, as they can give you an idea of what designs are popular across different regions.

  4. Get Feedback from Different Audiences: One huge perk of having a global range of clientele is that we get to communicate with them on a regular basis - allowing us to understand what they expect, and how we can further improve what we offer. We believe it's important to get feedback on our designs from different people and from different parts of the world as this can help us understand how your designs are perceived and whether they resonate with your target audience!

Being integrated into a global chain of supply, demand and logistics forces us to learn every day and adapt to what is to come at a moment’s notice - and we’d like to believe that it is something we excel at, and allows us to become an even more reliable partner in your endeavours to introduce some of the best shirts the industry has to offer into your line of clothing!
